Virus and spyware attacks are becoming more frequent and more serious. They can be amongst the hardest computer problems to deal with. You may need professional help to clear the virus and to repair the damage it might have done. I can install free anti-virus software and also advise about firewalls and other methods of protection.
Over time PCs can slow down due to a build up of unnecessary programs and an increase in temporary and other unwanted files. I can perform a 'tune-up' of your PC to recover that lost performance.
I can diagnose and repair problems with email and Internet connectivity, and with specific applications.
I can carry out many repairs to hardware, as well as upgrading PCs with additional memory and hard drive storage space. For older PCs I can also advise when such upgrades may be less cost-effective than a new PC.
I can assist with the purchase of new PCs, and then set them up for you with your existing home Broadband and printers. I can also transfer personal data including documents, pictures, music and email from any old PC, usually even if that old PC is not working.
Most of us now have precious pictures stored on our PCs, as well as many years of accumulated documents, emails and music. The loss of this data is worth far more than the PC itself. I can set up simple and cost-effective backup systems based on external media or cloud-based systems.
Even the average family home will now make use of both wired and wifi networks for sharing documents, music and printers. I can set up such networks to ensure that they are secure, and also to extend wifi to cover that corner of the home that the wifi doesn't quite cover.
